What Causes Greenish Tint To Urine Of A Alzheimer S Dementia Patient?

My parent has Alzheimers dementia. She is totally dependent on me and see the progression. She recently stayed in a nursing facility for six weeks, so I could work a temp job and get a break of the 24/7 hands on job. I ve had her home now for eight days. Her urine has a skunky smell, a brownish yellow color and a grainy appearance. Upon putting her to bed tonight, the color had more of a greenish tint. Is this common?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that she may have a urinary tract infection.

This would cause a change in odor and appearance of the urine.
She would need to be assessed by her doctor and may need a course of antibiotics if the infection is confirmed.

I hope this helps
