What Causes Hair Loss And Urinary Incontinence At Night After Taking Clopidogrel?

Hello, My fit and healthy mother (89) was prescribed Clopidogrel 75mg daily last summer following an episode of feeling unwell and admittance to A&E. Scans were clear and just repeated with the same results apart from the usual caveat of age related changes only. However, since last autumn she has had difficulty walking, itchy skin (scalp) and recently started to experience hair loss and urinary incontinence at night. This has settled partly but could these be side effects of Clopidogrel?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Clopidogril may have many side effects specifically the itching however it does not cause difficulty in walking and incontinence. So probably she would need a neurologist assessment ad many causes in the brain may cause such problems specially to rule out normal pressure hydrocephalus.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
