What Causes Hard Lump Near Jaw After Extracting Wisdom Teeth?
It's been a week exactly since all four wisdom teeth were removed. The bottom two were impacted. Most swelling and all pain is gone. The only concern is the hard lump on the side of my jaw. From what I've seen its could be infection and it's filled with puss. Is that generally the case?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain hard lump after surgical extraction of wisdom tooth is not an abnormal finding and it is post-inflammatory swelling and it is more firm and hard on the cheek in the area just opposite to the location where the trauma is maximum that is where incision is given and there is HEMATOMA formation that occurs due to severing of blood vessels during the procedure and it leads to accumulation of blood into the soft tissues and goes away gradually and can take a bit longer time to subside as compared to the other symptoms..
Nothing to worry, do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump and take Ibuprofen which is anti-inflammatory painkiller..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
