Dear Doctor-Last couple weeks I have had a irritated tight, hard to swallow throat. Finally I look in my mouth and notice a second looking uvula growing adjacent to my uvula. It is movable, soft, flesh colored. Seems to be hanging by a thin(er) piece of skin. Have had wicked heartburn for six months. Got a throat scope that came back normal. Does this sound like an irritation from my scope or something else like HPV or alcohol or tobacco use related? Thank you ahead of time for your comments.
Hi. Thanks for your information. Noted the history of a mass like thing near the uvula like a second uvula, these appear due to the trauma or infection or chronic cough. Consult an ENT Surgeon, get clinical evaluation and you need a course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines along with oral steroids for proper relief so that you can start symptomatic relief. This is not caused by HP, alcohol or tobacco. Alcohol and tobacco will definitely increase the pre-existing problems.
