General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
The hard and red bump you are experiencing at the injection site may be a sign of an abscess, which is a localized infection that can occur when bacteria enter the skin through a break, such as at an injection site. The swelling and pus or clear fluid you described are also common symptoms of an abscess.
It is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible, as abscesses can lead to serious complications if left untreated. A healthcare provider can evaluate the abscess and may prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection. In some cases, the abscess may need to be drained to remove the pus and promote healing.
Continuing to inject meth in the same area can increase the risk of abscesses and other complications. Seek guidance for deaddiction. Work with your physician to develop a plan of treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
