Head and chest pains I have sickle cell disease and I keep having sharp pains in my chest in my head I'm wondering if he has anything to do with my sickle cell.... I been having these pains for the last four or five days... when I have the pain in my chest feels like I'm kinda having a heart attack that's how bad pain is... what could be the problem what could be wrong
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. The main problem in sickle cell disease is obstruction of minor vessels due to sicklling of RBCs (red blood cells). These RBCs clumped togather and obstruct the blood supply to that part of organ. This is common in lung and brain vessels. So chances of small Pulmonary infarction and brain infarction are more in sickle cell disease. And these cause similar kind of sharp chest pain and headache. So better to get done CT Pulmonary Angiography and MRI brain for the diagnosis of these complications. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
