What Causes Headache And Dizziness?

Hi, im a 23 year old female about 5 1 and 200 pounds, I all of a sudden got a throbbing headache in the lower left part of my head close to my neck, My back and neck all of a sudden feel tight and I feel nauseous, Also very dizzy and light headed, do you think maybe its just a tension headache?

Hi,

It is possible that these are very severe tension headaches but there are still parameters you haven't specified that I'd look for in a MIGRAINE headache but on the other hand you do have some relevant symptoms.

On the other hand, the headache may not be tension type at all and may have some type of anatomical relationship to structures in the neck or head itself. Therefore, I would recommend the following studies. One would be an MRI of the head with gadolinium contrast and FOCUSING the scan on the CEREBELLOPONTINE ANGLE (CPA) looking for an acoustic neuroma or vestibular schwannoma.

The other study you may get some mileage out of would be an MRA of the neck looking at the carotid arteries and cavernous siphon area to rule out either aneurysmal swellings or a FISTULA.
