Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Headaches After Microcurrent Therapy In A Person With Narrow Angle Glaucoma?
I was diagnosed with narrow angle glaucoma and psuedoexfoliation without glaucoma this past summer. I had laser iridotomy five months ago.Last Tuesday I visited an anesthetic center and had a facial rejuvenation treatment including microcurrent therapy (stimulation) and RF. This was a full face/neck treatment including on and around the eyes. I am scheduled to have a treatment each week for the next 10 weeks. However, I started having a headache 20 to 30 minutes after the treatment (behind eyes) that has become quite severe and never gone away. My question is whether it is possible this problem is related to glaucoma/psuedoexfoliation? (I also had upper/lower blepharoplasty 7 months ago). I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on whether this treatment is safe for me and any ideas on why this may have caused a headache.
* The headache and pain behind eye after the laser therapy indicates possibly high intra ocular pressure, which can cause papilledema and secondary symptoms as descibed above.
* In my clinic, I do recommend basic evaluation with microscopy and ultrasound tonometry for further details of the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
