What Causes Headaches And Tinnitus After A Mitral Valve Repair Surgery?
I’m having a mitral valve repaired in 2 weeks. Last week when just sitting around talking to friend,my heart rate went to 190 dropped right back to normal immediately. I was left with a headache, buzzing in my head and ears and High pitch frequencies sounds going up and down(I’m 68). I feel like I have vertigo which I had once 10 years ago. I’m thinking this is nerves at it’s worse. The headache is not like the migraine headaches that I get. It is a constant dull achy headache at my temples and above. I know I should call my cardiologist, but just was wondering if you think it could be nerves going amuck. YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The nerves may be the cause of the headache since it is at the temples and this is the area where stressheadaches tend to occur but though stress/nerves can increase the heart rate, it should not increase to 190 bpm. It would be best to be seen so that you can be assessed for that sharp increase.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
