What Causes Headaches, Blurriness In Eyes And Fluctuating BP In A 80 Year Old?

My 82 yr. old Mom, who is relatively active despite her COPD, has been experiencing the following symptoms for approximately 10 years, without any real help from the numerous drs. she has seen. Her symptoms are getting worse. Symptoms include: headache, wavy lines in front of her eyes, blurry eyes, burning in eyes, fluctuating blood pressure (sometimes very high), tingling in her face (sometimes throughout her body), fatigue, weakness, dizziness. Heart disease runs in her family. She is on numerous medications for this but none help. She is deteriorating because of these symptoms and we don t know what direction to go in. No one seems to go the extra step to help her find out why she has this debilitating problem. We would appreciate it if you could direct us as to where to go from here. Thank you.

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Uncontrolled blood pressure appears to be the cause along with few allergic symptoms
2. Needs evaluation for allergy due to symptoms of blurry eyes, burning eyes, tingling sensation. Get blood test for eosinophil levels and Ig E levels. If elevated, will need to identify cause of allergy.
3. Controlled blood pressure along with Vit B12 supplements and avoiding allergy is necessary. Meet your doctor to get blood pressure under control. Also salt restriction, weight reduction and maintenance is necessary. Test results necessary for further opinion. Hope his thyroid tests are normal.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
