Regarding your concern, I would explain that it is important exclude possible
cardiac arrhythmia, which can be the cause of your palpitations.
Other possible causes to consider would be: chronic
anemia,
thyroid dysfunction or
anxiety.
For this reason, I recommend consulting with your doctor for a physical exam and some tests:
- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring to investigate for cardiac arrhythmia
-
complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid dysfunction
- blood electrolytes for possible imbalance.
But, there is no reason to worry about surgery, because all the above mentioned causes, usually are treated with medication.
You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
