Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Heart Palpitations, dizziness And Lightheadedness?
Hello. 2 weeks ago I started to have heart palpitations. They were to the point that I would get lightheaded and dizzy. I ended up in the ER and it was found that I was experiencing PVC. This went on for a week and then it turned into something more. Now I get the same-ish palpitations every time I swallow a bite of food, plus my esophagus will spasm at the same time. The combo is so strong that it takes my breath away and will actually make my heart ach. I put myself on a liquid type diet 3 days ago to avoid the who ordeal. Any thoughts?
The presence of premature ventricular contractions found in ER needs additional work up for the cause as a simple stress would not give this on persistent basis. Cardiac conduction abnormality, voltage gated channel disturbances, electrolyte imbalance status and functioning of carotid arterires are of main concerns to be evaluated thoroughly at the office of your cardiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
