What Causes Heat Cramps In Hands, Forearms, Abdomen And Lightheadedness?
I over did this past w/end outside. Had heat cramps in hands, forearms abdomen and legs. Stopped sweating and was light headed. Though I thought I was hydrating, I didn t need to go to toilet all day both days. 48hrs later I m still alittle light headed and my stomach feels heavy. Just had my first stool and it was black, like I had taken pepto. Is this a lingering effect of being a heat casualty?
If you have not used Pepto Bismol and you are not taking iron tablets, then it would be best if you are seen as soon as possible.
In some persons, the presence of black stool may mean that there is some amount of bleeding from the stomach or small intestines. As the blood passes through the intestines, it changes and causes the stool to appear black.
This can in persons with a history of severe acid reflux or gastritis or those using medications that promote bleeding such as medications to stop clotting or NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen, Cataflam, naproxen etc).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
