What Causes Heaviness In Legs & Calf Muscles Post Lumbar Fusion?

Hi Doc:I had a two-level lumbar fusion w/decompression, with rods/plates at L4-5-L5-S1 on 9-8-11. After the surgery my HGB is 10.0 and HCT is 29.0. The problem I m experiencing is severe heaviness in legs, along with severe calf leg cramps. I have no visible signs of DVT or swelling. What could this possibly be caused by? Thank you. Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

To guide you properly there is need to see your CT scan and MRI. It is quite possible that decompression is not up to the mark or the screw is touching the nerve.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jaideep Gaver, Orthopedic Surgeon
