What Causes Heavy Menstruation Along With Large Clots?

I am 29. Thursday I went for an ultrasound on my stomach and they did an internal too. I have been having very heavy periods with very large clots. Also a pulling / ripping feeling when moving which causes very bad pain. I was wondering if you knew what it could be? I don t get the results back till early next week. But since the internal examination my back and lower stomach have been in pain and getting worse over time. Do you think it is something serious? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,
Heavy menstrual cycles with pain could be because of many reasons like hormonal imbalance, Fibroids, adenomyosis or dysfunction uterine bleeding, or rarely malignancy. Considering your age if you had any previous abortion, then any placental implants if present should also be ruled out. Just wait for the ultrasound report for exact diagnosis.

Thank you
