What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding And High BP After Removal Of IUD?

Recently had IUD removed and had extensive heavy bleeding for over 10 days. BP last night was 106/59 in ER with another dx of enteritis. Normal BP has always been 120/80 range. Should I be concerned? Other S/S include: cold intolerance, diaphragmatic PA, physical exhaustion, and HA. Age is 33 and BMI is 30.

Hello,

You had IUD removed, there after you are having heavy bleeding, it continued for10 days and presently you are having comparatively low blood pressure. Removal of hormonal IUD does cause heavy bleeding, heavy bleeding may result in low hemoglobin level and hence low blood pressure. You are suggested to stay at rest and take home made nutritious food rich in iron, calcium and protein. Do not skip meals / void stress and anxiety.

Take warm beverage, soups, rehydrating fluid to help normalize your blood pressure. You can take iron tonic or vitamin B supplements for better and faster recovery. However, if you do not stop bleeding, and blood pressure is falling you should consult your gynecologist immediately. Get clinically examined and get USG of the uterus done to rule out perforation of the uterus as it can be life threatening.

You will be accordingly treated and managed at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
