What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding Post Intercourse?
I am a 20 year old female and I have recently been dignosed with hypothyroidism. Before I was put on levothyroxine I was having irregular periods. For the last month I have had spotting every day, then I had my period, and have had continued spotting. I also spot heavier after sexual intercourse. Is this a side effect of the medicine and hypothyroidism?

Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi, thanks for sharing your health concerns with HCM!
I think this bleeding is not related to treatment or hypothyroidism...there are few possibilities in your case:
1. cervical ulcers, infection, polyps, growth/cancer: needs gynecological examination, culture and PAP tests
therefore kindly go for these tests and revert back to us
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
