What Causes Hematoma And Swollen Eyes After Head Injury?
I fell and hit my head really hard and knocked myself out after almost 2 weeks I went to the er they did a ct scan and told me the small knot on my forehead was a hematoma and they gave me antibiotics and a nasal spray for inflamation well 2 weeks have come n gone and I still have the hematoma and headaches and my eyes swell up, I am a disabled vet and the hospital is an hour away ....should I be concerned and go back to er to be rechecked ....ty Missy :)
Since you have a hematoma after head injury and even after 2 weeks it is still there, you should visit ER and get re-examined. Get X-ray, CT/MRI done to detect if their is any internal injury or trauma or subdural hematoma. Hematomas may take 4-6 weeks to heal. You may be referred to an Eye specialist for your eyes to get examined. You will be tested and examined and treated accordingly. For headache you can take acetaminophen, one stat when needed. Stay away from addictions.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
