my daughter had given birth through c-section almost 2 weeks ago. She was also ligated at the same time. Five days after delivery, they found a blood cloth on her lower right abdomen. Her blood count also dropped to 6. She had blood transfusion two days after. The size of the blood clot is like the size of a fist. They gave her anti-biotic. Her blood count has improved after a few days but her white blood cell is still low. Last night she was told that the blood clot was not that solid anymore it has somehow expanded and her blood count is ok and infection is guarded. She was also told that they do not want to re open her as she bled so much when she was being operated. This morning, another doctor told her that her uterus is above its normal position. And they advice her not to move a lot as the blood clot might burst. What do you think is the problem here? We are confused as the doctors say different things.
Hello, It is very unfortunate that this complication had occurred. It is difficult online to presume the exact cause of the bleeding. Yet, as the symptoms have progressed, the bleeding seems to have issued from the visceral organs and not from the layers of the abdomen as is usually seen. The fact that the uterus is pushed higher up suggests that the collection is from the pelvis. She would need imaging to locate the source of bleeding and plan further management. Please consult an expert and if possible, a vascular surgeon for further help. Take care.
