What Causes Hernia?

Mr Husband is detected to have hernia and advised to go for a minor surgery as early as possible. Can you explain me on how does it come to a person and what does it cause? Will there be any side effects going for a surgery. How long does it take to heal if he goes for surgery.

* There are many types of hernia possible in a male as inguinal ,
epigastric , lumbar , umbilical , incisional hernia if past surgery ,
hiatus hernia so the cause depends upon the type in particular .

* If I assume that you are asking for most common one which is
inguinal hernia then :

Causes - increased pressure in abdominal wall as excess straining ,
severe constipation , urinary retentions , others .
- excess weight lifting
- chronic cough

Side effects of surgery which may or may not include following :

- Anesthesia complications
- Surgery related - infection - recurrence - others .

Healing time after surgery is 10 days for wound , 3 months for internal
mesh and healing .
