What Causes Hiccups To Be Persistent After Liver Resection Surgery?
I am one week post op liver resection for cancer of the liver the surgery was a sucess with removal ....however I have developed hicupps non stop since day 2 surgeon orginally said it was because I was not passing gas I have had a BM and passing gas...I am home now for 2 days and still hicupps saw the Kasier internist yesterday he prescribed reglan and valium for me since they tried thorazine in hospital without any help...I continue to have hicupps please help me
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, hiccup could be due to anesthetic agent and sedative, diaphragm irritation is the cause for this and this may be due to respiratory depression, just relax for some time, and try Antacid with local anesthetic this would be fine soon, take care.
