Even tho it showed I have some inflammation. Going on. I havefeen so fatigued and have missed work because of it. Please comment I work in a facility were there are elderly members and do not want to spread germs.
Sinuses are the structures in the head that lightens the head and it also helps in improve the voice. These sinuses are lined by epithelium and there are mucous secretion which drains through the tract into the nasal cavity. If there is disturbances in the drainage can lead to mucous accumulation and secondary bacterial infection. The inflammation due to infection is called as sinusitis. Antibiotics and analgesics are prescribed to overcome the acute infection. But in case of resistance, the infection may persists and become thick which can leads to pus formation.
Headache and tenderness over the sinus region are the major symptom and sign of sinusitis. Fever may be sue to bacterial infection. Management depends on the cause. In case of blockage of the sinus, it should be corrected to cure the sinusitis. X-ray or CT scan helps to identify the pathology. Antihistaminics and decongestants are the available over the counter medication for acute condition without bacterial infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
