What Causes High Fever And Constant Burps In A Toddler?

3yr old boy has really high fever since yesterday evening, 103.8 oral. He s burping a lot. No other symptoms that I can find. He said his tummy doesn t hurt and I even laid him down and pressed on all areas, no pain or flinching. No diarrhea. He seems tired right now but played all day, skipped nap. Ate fine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Fever is common in toddlers and very likely the cause is a viral infection he may be going through. The fact that he is playful and eating well and has no vomiting or diarrhea is all very reassuring.

I would recommend you to give him ibuprofen and Tylenol regularly every 6 hours to keep the fever down so he is not tired and does not dehydrate. Also, give him plenty of water and fluids to drink.

If the fever lasts more than 3-4 days or he is tired or not taking fluids or is any worse, he will need to be checked by a doctor.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
