What Causes High Fever And Painful Lumps On The Neck?

my grandson has been sick for a week with 102 fever has blisters in his throat. he has been seen by a dr which stated he had some sort of coxacoxie viral infection. know being a few days later he has 2 growing lumps on his color bone and getting another just above almost on neck they were soft but are know hard and are painful? what are they? could they be from this infection? swollen glands?
