What Causes High Fever In A Toddler?

Hi my 3yr old son developed high temperatures on Saturday night about 39 deg, responds to paracetamol and I am able to get some fluids and a small amount of food into him. He vomited this morning early but not since. He seems otherwise happy but a bit lethargic. His eyes seem very glassy and bloodshot also. His temperature has climbed again up to 39.2 just now and I ve given him some more Panadol. I was wondering if it was normal for his eyes to be so bloodshot along with temperatures as neither of my children really have experienced that before with fevers

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, your toddler seems to have gastrointestinal infection most likely as there is high grade fever with vomiting and laziness. I would recommend an immediate consultation with his pediatrician for attention and management.

Hope I have answered your query.
