What Causes High Fever Inspite Of Giving Motrin In Infants?

My 9 month old has had a fever between 101-102 since yesterday evening. I gave him motrin and it has not helped. He was fussy all night and today. He has refused his bottle today so since last night maybe had 10oz of formula. He keeps pulling at his tongue. Is this just teething or should I take him in to the er?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Your child's fever could be due to upper respiratory infection which could be mostly viral infection.

Teething might cause fever but the viral infection must be ruled out also.

He should have some routine blood works as advised by the doctor.

Si,it would be better you take advise from pediatrician rather than giving him just symptomatic treatment byself medication like ibuprofen (motrin).

He may require oral antibiotics with antipyretics and antihistamines.

Regards,
