What Causes Hoarse Voice In A Child With No Other Symptoms?

Hi my baby is 18 weeks old and all of a sudden has a hoarse voice. He is not running a fever. I fed him some peas for the first time and the voice came after. He did t break out in rashes but could this still be an allergic reaction or some type of cold?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think it is viral laryngitis, infection of the larynx or possibly related to cold. I don't think this is related to an allergic reaction. If you see swollen lips or tongue you should go to the ER immediately for prednisone and epinephrine injections.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
