Hello and welcome to HCM.
The
prolactin levels must reach to non pregnant levels maximum 6 weeks after
abortion. In fact most of the time they may not be significantly elevated in early
pregnancy. However I am not sure why you were prescribed bromocriptine? We do not use it in women with abortion as it is not needed. Did you have elevated levels before abortion or pregnancy? are you on chronic bromocriptine therapy? Please upload these answers if possible along with a complete obstetric history for me to provide better suggestions.
Nevertheless, the levels may show a rising trend in normal women for a few days and then decrease. Also check to see if you are using some other drugs like
metoclopramide that may increase prolactin levels. As of now, if there are no other symptoms. You may wait for a week if there is no increased prolactin pre pregnancy.
Retest after 2 weeks, if still high levels, visit a doctor and get evaluated for other causes of raised prolactin like pituitory gland
tumor or hyperfunction.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
