What Causes Increased Blood Pressure After Discontinuing Simvastatin?
I have found my blood pressure has risen to high 140 s, I stopped taking simvastatin some months ago , as suggested by my GP. Prior to that, I was a steady 120/130. should I resume taking simvastatin, and may I start initially by taking one on first morning ?
Welcome at HCM.... I appreciate your health concerns As far as simvastatin is concerned, it is lipid lowering drug. It has nothing to to with blood pressure. What is your age and sex? Do u have diabetes? Any family history of heart disease? The Bp reading you have mentioned is normal. Are u using medicine to lower ur bp? Normally if systolic rises more than 160 after then medical treatment should be initiated.... Meanwhile stay calm and do regular physical exercise , with decrease salt intake... You should meet your doctor so that you can be properly assessed...you may need to get your FBC urea creatinine ECG too. Hope your query Is adequately addressed Regards Dr saad sultan
