Hello,

Your daughter is over weight and now is experiencing pain in the hips and legs. It can be due to muscle strain, wear and tear, overuse, pinched nerve, etc. If the pain is radiating from the hips to the legs, it can be due to sciatica, this type of pain may be caused due to irritation of certain lumbar or sacral nerve roots. Other medical conditions that can cause such symptoms are OA, RA, tendonitis, etc.

She is suggested to include anti inflammatory food in her diet. She should take heat therapy with the help of a hot water bag. Gentle massage with pain relieving ointments at least once in a day are effective. She can take NSAIDS, Combiflam / Naproxen, one SOS when pain(after food). She should not get dependent on painkillers but switch to healthy lifestyle. Exercises under a physiotherapist and regular walking is recommended. Maintain healthy weight if obese. Loosing weight will help to control the symptoms.

She should get clinically examined, get tests and investigations done to confirm the pathology causing the symptoms and discomfort. Get required imaging tests, nerve conduction velocity tests done so that she can be treated at the earliest. She should take food rich in vitamin B6, B12 to help nerves get repaired. She can also take supplements.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
