What Causes Increasing BP After Having Carvedilol?

At 3:30 PM my BP was 161/78 61 pulse. I took one Carvedilol 3.125 mg. Now 5 hours later, at 8:30 PM, my BP is 196/96 63 pulse should not have the Carvedilol have kicked in and my Blood Pressure be coming down now? How long should I expect this medication to work?

The medication should have an some effect after 5 hours even if there was not complete improvement.
It should be associated with an increase in blood pressure.

The BP would not be associated with immediate detrimental effects but if you continue to have these readings then they can potentially cause problems.
You may want to schedule an appointment with your doctor to review your medication.
