What Causes Indentation On The Tonsil Pocket Post Tonsillectomy?

I had a tonsillectomy 16 days ago. Yesterday evening I tried eating solid food and I later noticed a feeling deep in the tonsil pocket that maybe there is food stuck in there. I ve read that this has happened to a number of people but I wasn t sure if I should be worried or let it work out on its own.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Tonsil is placed in a tonsillar fossa.
Tonsillar fossa is a depression where tonsil is placed.
After tonsillectomy a depression is created which takes some time to fill.
With passage of time, the tonsillar fossa is occupied by hematoma which later undergoes fibrosis.
At this post-operative period, you may take saline gargles to allow the tonsillar fossa to heal up.
Avoid chewing food from the side where tonsillectomy is performed.

Thanks and take care
