What Causes Indigestion Along With Burping And Acid Reflux?
I am experiencing indigestion for a number of months. A burning feeling just below the chest but above the ribs. I believe this area is referred to as the sternum. I can press the area with one finger. I experience the burning and a lot of burping and gas. I had this same feeling several years ago to the point one night that I was having severe pain and though it was a heart problem. I was taken by ambulance to Hospital and checked out but nothing was found heart related. I remember burping a lot that night as well and I think the pain was mistaken for heart but all testing showed no problems with heart. Could this be a ulcer?
It does not sound as though it is related to heart but the stomach and esophagus.
It may be an ulcer as you mentioned but another possibility would be reflux or gastritis (irritation of the stomach lining).
Altering your diet to remove foods that may cause a problem and also using medications such as Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid- may help.
It would be best to see your doctor to determine the likely cause.
I hope this helps.
Take Care!
