My Mother will be 90 years old in a couple of weeks. She has severe osteoarthritis of her R knee. Wears a steel brace for extra support her doc ordered for her. She does not want to have her knee surgically replaced. She has a lot of pain. Has some to minimum relief with topical. Only Meds are thyroid,HBP one med,Adult ASA. Doesn t tolerate ice. Anything we can do to help ease her knee pain. She takes Arthritis Acetaminophen twice daily. Turmeric. Thank you for any suggestions
Thank you for your question Yes she needs help to have more comfortable life Now few clarifications and tests before treatment 1. Xray and MRI of the knee is necessary This may be pure arthritis or fracture especially when the pain is severe.
2. calcium level to rule out osteoporosis of the knee did to lie calcium 3. Rheumatoid arthritis to rule out rheumatism She may need more strong pain killers if the pain does not go with the current drugs she is taking. Consult rheumatologist for further manangement.
