What Causes Intense Pain In The Right Hip Long After Hip Replacement?

Had both hips replaced 6-years ago and now having a lot of pain in the right hip when I get up in the morning. After moving around for about an hour, the pain seems to ease. I returned to the Doctor and he had a blood test for CRP Quant which came out 18.1. Prior to this trip it was thought my hip pain was coming from my spine. I think he now agrees with me and having fluid drawn from the hip and a nerve block done at the same time. What is your opinion?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, post-operative pain in the hip after replacement may be due to multiple possibilities as - nerve compression
- blood or serous collection
- chronic inflammation of the muscle
- prosthesis malfunction

An ideal workup would be the sequence of soft tissue ultrasound with the need of CT scan or other evaluation as per the clinician concern.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
