What Causes Iron Level Of 2 In Body?

Hi, I just recently had a blood test that revealed an iron level of 2, and a haemoglobin level of 78 (normal range for women 115-130). My doctors said that they have never seen iron deficiency so low due to diet and I have been eating red meat regularly. I have been put on iron supplements now but do you have any ideas of any underlying pathologies which may be causing this? Should I consider having a colonoscopy and endoscopy even though I had these at the start of the year for a different issue?

Low hemoglobin and low serum iron levels are due either poor intake or increased loss. check out your menstrual flow and occult blood loss in stools. if you have habit of taking tea or coffee with food or immediately after food I recommend you to stop this as this will inhibit iron absorption from you food alternatively you can take lemon juice with meals which will enhance iron absorption. I strongly recommend you to use iron tawa or kadai in cooking
