Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a nearly 47 year old female, and came off the contraceptive pill last October. Since then my periods have been really erratic - sometimes 13 days between, some 22 days, and then this month 30 days. I had my period for 4 days, but then three days later every time I go to the toilet a little bit of blood is there - is this normal? I have been like this for 5 days now
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... As you are 47 year old, you should know that irregular periods are first sign of approaching menopause. Menopause is the period in a woman's life (typically between the ages of 45 and 50) when menstruation ceases.
Here are other common causes of irregular periods: 1 Excessive weight gain or weight loss 2 Stress or emotional problems 3 Hormonal problems 4 Over-exercising 5 Problems with the pelvic organs such as polycystic ovarian syndrome 6 Eating disorders If problem persists, you should visit a Gynaecologist
Don't worry you would be fine Hoping your query is solved.
