What Causes Irregular Periods While Taking Birth Control Pills?

Hi, I really need help!I had unprotected sex several times and last time that i had one was 3 weeks ago on 21 sep. I also started to taking birth control pill a week before that date (21sep) and then i stopped after 10 days taking it and i started bleeding like a normal period for 5 days. Im not sure if it was a real period or a cause of stopping the pill. i tested 5 times since that date they were all negative i also did a blopd test on 25 sep it was negative but i guess it was too soon so i did another home pregnancy test at home on 12 oct (yesterday) it was also negative. I dont have any symptoms im just scared! can i be pregnant ?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The bleeding what has happened for you in the form of periods after stopping birth control pills is due to withdrawal bleeding since you stopped the pills.
Since you were taking birth control pills one week prior to sexual activities, it must have offered protection during that period.
Once you get bleeding by any means, it says that you aren't pregnant. Hence your pregnancy tests have come negative.
After stopping the pills, if you indulge in sexual activites, you carry a risk of getting pregnant. Hence, you need to use some other means of contraception like condoms or emergency contraceptive pill.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
