Hi,
Since the pain is going through both the lower
limbs and is severe enough not allowing to do daily chores the reason can be more than
ischial bursitis.
The problem can be in the lower spine, prolapsed discs, lumbar canal stenosis and so on.
Hence it is the MRI of the lower spine and pelvic area that will give a proper diagnosis.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon for proper clinical evaluation, examination so that which are to be scanned can be decided not to miss the diagnosis.
Till then take a complete
bed rest as straining too much may increase the problem in absence of a definitive diagnosis.
Take a proper dose of anti-inflammatory medications with painkiller properties.
Relax, avoid
stress and
anxiety as these lead to muscle spasms and enhance the symptoms.
Further management will depend upon the clinical findings as well as the report of MRI of the affected area.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
