What Causes Itchiness In Ear After Taking Medicines For Perforated Ear Drum?

Perforated right eardrum 2 months ago and about 1 month ago local Doctor prescribed amoxicillin 500mg as I had inner ear pain etc. I am now on last day of antibiotics but my ear is very itchy inside. Is this part of healing process or does it indicate other problems?

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding itching in your which had perforation of ear drum 2 months back and you had been given antibiotic for the same also.

Since 2 months had already been passed of perforation, so if till now hole is not healed than chances for spontaneous recovery is now no more and one has to think for operative proceedure. As far as itching is concerned it may be due to-

1- Moisture or discharge in ear canal.

2- Secondary infection may be fungal.

3- accumulated debris in the ear.

For treatment you should consult your ENT doctor for thorough examination, necessary investigation and accordingly plan for treatment.

Regards.
