What Causes Itching And Tingling Sensation On The Upper Lip?

Hello! for the past 2 days my upper lip has been itching, tingly, and almost feels like its numb. My skin on the lip feels like its being stretched and is very dry. It also feels like it may be swollen, but is not very noticeable when looking in the mirror. I have been putting ice on my lip which does help, somewhat.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

The symptoms can be probably due to allergic reaction while it can also be due to infection caused by bacteria or fungus.
Many a times too much chapping of lips can also cause similar symptoms..
As of now you should start keeping your lips coated with a thick coat of petroleum jelly so that they do not dry as well as start feeling soothed.
You can also start applying a combination of antibiotic and antifungal ointments.
Avoid licking or sucking the lips as it further evaporates moisture from lips and make them dry.
Continue doing cool packs over lips and do atleast 3-4 times a day..
Drink plenty of water..
You should apply sunscreen lotion and sunscreen based lip balm when getting exposed to sun..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
