What Causes Itching In Ears, Nose And Throat; Nicotine Patches Or Quitting Smoking Causes?

I have recently quit smoking and I m using the patch. Everything is going well except my ears, nose, and throat are itching like crazy!! Is this common? I ve never had allergys and I ve never had a cold like this before. Is it normal or am I allergic to this patch. No redness where I wear it so I didn t think that was the problem.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have itching in nose ear and throat along with sore throat . Well there can be many reasons for the symptoms you mention in query like strep throat or viral infection . But in your case the symptoms are due to withdrawal effect of smoking . I would suggest you to drink plenty of water and consult doctor to discuss the condition , also to rule out allergyic reaction due to nicotine patch . Doctor may prescribe drug like prednisone anti biotics ( amoxicillin ) or antihistamine drug .
