What Causes Itchy Bumps And Red Area On The Arm Near The Crease?
I came into contact with what I thought was poison ivy about a week ago. There were a few itchy bumps on the inside of my arm near the crease. Over the past couple of days a solid red area has appeared with some more smaller bumps. It itches around the circumference of the circle and feels warm to the touch. I haven t had poison ivy for many years. What could be causing the red area?
Since you have now a solid red area with smaller bumps that is itchy, warm and is causing you discomfort, you should resist touching, scratching and picking the skin. Apply cold compress to ease discomfort. Take regular bath, do not share your toiletries. Wear loose fitting cotton clothes, avoid shaving or waxing for a couple of days.
Apply ring guard, anti-fungal medicated cream or ointment regularly at least three times a day. You can also take an oral dose of anti-fungals (Fluconazole). Such manifestations occur due to fungal infection. Keep skin dry, fungal infection is triggered in moist, warm skin. You can take antihistamines to suppress itching. Hydrocortisone also reduces itching.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
