What Causes Itchy Red Bumps All Over The Body?

My mother is 85 and is under a great deal of stress as we are caring for my 90 year old father in the final stages of Alzheimer's. She has developed a rash over several areas of her body. The patches are raised bumps, red in color and extremely itchy. Can stress cause this? She has never suffered skin problems. I would so appreciate any idea

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your mother is having an allergic reaction which is common in mature ages. Simply apply ice over the reddened area and take any anti allergic available in your area like Loratadine so that the itching subsides.

Also, advise her to drink plenty of water daily approximately 2 liters per day so that the toxins in blood get washed away. Meanwhile keep an eye on anything that may cause allergy to your mom like pet dander, plants, spices, cosmetic products, food, cloth, etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Maryum
