What Causes Knee Pain With A CRP Level Of 6.2?

My wife had a CRP of 6.2 a year ago and this year it is at 14. Of course she is hitting the panic button because the doctor wants to do some further tests. She does have joint pain in her knees especially when using stairs. Her physician doesn t think that joint pain would be enough to elevate to that level. All of her other levels are great. Should we be alarmed?
