What Causes Large Fluid Filled Blisters On Leg?

I have a localized rash (fluid filled blisters) the size of a silver dollar on my leg near the ankle. The area started with many small red dots and quickly became fluid filled blisters. They did not itch, but they were somewhat painful. After a week the blisters began to subside and the top layer of skin became very dark.My dermatologist could not tell me what it is, only what it is not.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The localized rash (fluid filled blisters) on your leg are indicating a possible allergic reaction of the skin to anything like cosmetics you might have applied locally or touching any allergen. Everything has been subsided thankfully, however the skin remained dark because it's the normal process following inflammation.

I advise to apply calendula mixed with aloe vera cream to help reduce the darkness on the skin. It might require a bit more time to have the skin color restored again.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
