What Causes Large Mucus Discharge From Mouth?

Hi doctor,

Every morning I get a lot of mucus from my mouth. I can breathe normally from my nose, no mucus at all which comes from my nose. From time to time I have to spit. I have used fluticasone, fumist and flixonase and I drink all kinds of allergic pill, there is no effect. Doctor, what I have to do. It seems chronic.

Thank you in advance. Hope to have a favourable reply with you.

Bye,
Marlene

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have large mucus discharge from mouth which is due to blocked nostrils and due to sinusitis because of this you are feeling pressure on nose. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Because when sinusitis occur one should immediately consult doctor to prevent infection from spreading to other parts. Doctor may order X-ray and CT scan to evaluate the condition. He or she may perform surgical procedure like submucous resection surgery or septoplasty and prescribe antibiotics for sinusitis along with decongestants. For now do warm saline rinses several times a day , take steam and take advil (if not allergic ) or tylenol for discomfort and swelling.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
