What Causes Large White Spots And Veiny Lines At The Back Of The Throat?

My throat is sore. I thought I woke up with strep but my doctor said it wasn't. But my tonsils look funny and behind them I have a big white spot. And my sides in the front of my tonsils look veiny, so is my uvula? And my tonsils and the back of my throat.

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern . As per your query you have large white spots and veiny lines at the back of the throat . Well there can be many reasons for white spot on the back of the throat like oral thrush , tonsil stones ( tonsiloliths ) , oral herpes and tonsillitis . It seems to me that in your case the white spots on back of your throat is due to tonsil stones . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out causes mention above . Usually treatment is not necessary, as the tonsils will clean themselves just do betdine gargles and suck on lemon candy . If they are causing any discomfort then doctor may remove them with instrument . If condition doesn't get better then consult oral pathologist , who may prescribe antifungal or anti viral drugs .
