What Causes Left-sided Facial Pain And Numbness In Temple?
i am experiencing some pain along the left side of my face. My temple feel slightly numb to the touch, bu the pain is still there. The pain feels as it there is a constant compression. It start at about 2/3rds of the way along my forehead on the left side and goes all the way down to my jaw line. When i tighten my teeth as if biting down the pain increases in my cheek. the pain is also somewhat behind my left eye.
Lab examination includes: a. CBC [if fever also comes] b. Alkaline phosphate levels c. Serum creatine d. ESR, uric acid e. Plain radiograph TMJ
They are helpful in diagnosing joint issues. Some generalised therapies can be done till tests are done 1. Moist heat and massage of mastication muscles [warm cold compresses at night / avoid jaw clenching teeth grinding] 2. Analgesics [Ibuprofen 400mg 8 hourly (Motrin)] 3. Eat soft diet [avoid gum chewing] 4. Stress reduction / diet / immunity / all these can be overcome [join art of living ombw online course] before they suggest benzodiazepines or anti-depressants
[for extreme pain or spasm, take Valium 2mg i.e only when extremely needed]. Consult an ENT specialist or oral surgeon as this may self limit you or go in chronic state.
