hey there.i understand the situation can be very uncomfortable.
as far as my experience and your history,it looks like a bruise to rib cage or muscles of the chest region.
you can visit the doctor and consider taking an xray to rule out obvious fractures if any.
please understand, this kind of injuries are common to footballers, soccer and rugby players and mostly all form of sports.
for Avoid activities that cause rib cage pain, including sports.
Take aspirin,
acetaminophen,
ibuprofen, or naproxen for pain/inflammation.
Use ice applications for 15-20 minutes at a time, 3-4 times a day to relieve pain and to reduce inflammation in the early stages after the injury.
it might take a month for the ribs if injured to heal on its own.avoid straining and lifting heaavy objects for the time being
Seek medical help immediately if you develop any signs of a more serious problem, such as:increasing
shortness of breath,increasing chest pain
,pain in your tummy or shoulder, coughing up blood ,coughing up yellow or green mucus,a high temperature (fever) of 38C (100.4F) or above, which could suggest a
chest infection or a damge to internal organs.
take care and hope i have alleviated your concern
